With an entourage of guards, Prince Salix entered the Barracks.

Salix did not even look at Zinnia, who was staring at the Prince. She had never seen him this close up.

S: It is nearly sundown. Is your army ready?

Gen: Yes, sir, ready to be mobilised. There are a few dead-or-fights-

The name for those given Zinnia's choice - the death penalty or the army.

Gen: -that won't be ready for a bit, and an officer training each of them, but that's all.

Salix nodded, seeming a mixture of excited and nervous.

S: How many are training?

Zinnia knew this meant her, and people in her position.

He gave Zinnia a look, a mixture of disdain and lust in his eye.

Salix looked off in the distance, calculating.

S: We outnumber them. If I can help it, the battle will be quick.

Zinnia cringed at this casual discussion of war.

With that, he turned and skulked off, his guards following.

Zinnia used the hustle of them leaving to go back into her dorm.

Zinnia tossed and turned in her hard bed, her head pounding horribly. She saw herself on the frontline, holding a weapon and brandishing it at a small, terrified looking child. Her own eyes were steely, and she did not blink as she lifted her weapon and swung it down.

Z: Agh!

She cried, sitting up, her face pale.

A few of the other soldiers mumbled 'shut up', but there was no great reaction. Nightmares were commonplace here.

Zinnia sucked in lungfuls of air, her heart beating frantically. She felt sweat drip down her forehead, mixing with the tears that were welling up in her eyes. The dream might come true, she thought, wiping her damp clammy hands on her sheets, you'll be a killer.

Light snores and sleepy groans filled the bunkhouse, nothing to bring comfort or quicken the oncome of sleep for Zinnia.

She wished desperately to be in her own home, in her own bed. Last night she had slept because she was so tired, but tonight she was sure she could never sleep again. Zinnia began to openly cry, standing up and looking for a way out. There must be an unlocked door. Somewhere to run.

Zinnia stumbled into the corridor, the walls seemingly closing in on her, or turning like in that song in HSM 3 where Troy is spinning in the school hall (cant remember what song hang on...it's called Scream).

Distant sounds implied that people were still up, or at least one person was, somewhere in the building. Sounds footsteps and murmuring and general scuffling.
